A workshop created to bring area photographers together to network, shoot, and learn more about both the business and the technical side of photography.
This is open to anyone that has an interest in professional photography, though you do not need to be a professional to attend. It’s a great way for newbies to get their feet wet and learn from the pros, and for those with experience to freshen up and network. We foster a welcoming and open environment to answer questions and provide experience while having fun!

The registration fee will cover lunch on Saturday and Sunday, location fees, and the models.

Itinerary
Friday
Meetup – Introductions
Shop Talk, including Basics of Photography, Best Business Practices, Photoshop Do’s and Don’ts, Lighting, and more!
Saturday
Model Shoot
We will have two to three models, depending on the number of attendees.
Professional hair and makeup will be provided.
Indoor and outdoor locations will be used so that we can explore many different lighting situations.
OCF demonstration if time permits.
Sunday
Each participant is asked to edit and bring 5 images of each model on Sunday, either on a CD or flash drive; these will be provided to the models for their portfolios.
We will have an image share from the day before, and discuss any questions.
One-on-one portfolio reviews will be available with Wendi – bring 15-20 recent images to discuss.
Wendi Riggens is a professional wedding photographer based out of Burlington, Iowa. She started shooting seriously in college and after years of planning, opened her doors 4 years ago. She’s studied with Jose Villa, Jesh DeRox, and Dennis Orchard, and is constantly looking for ways to better herself as a photographer. She loves Canon, PC’s, and Mexican, and if you walk through an area she is shooting, watch your feet so that you don’t step on her!
Devan Whitson is quickly becoming one of the most sought-after senior photographers in the area. Based in Dallas City, IL, she travels all over west central Illinois and southeast Iowa scouting the perfect locations to make each and every session unique. She’s also often seen shooting alongside Wendi at weddings, and if you listen to them talk, you likely won’t understand a word between them, but rest-assured, they understand each other! Devan shoots a Canon, plays on a Mac, and loves buffalo chicken pizza!
